Paper Camera?

A paper Canon SLR! :D

They even made Leica ones lol.

Paper Canon EOS-1D

Paper Canon EOS 5D

The DSLRs can mount paper lens as well. :O

Super cool man, wonder who has the patience to make one.

Fancy making one for yourself? Just follow the link here. ;)

Panasonic Lumix LX5 vs Canon Powershot S95

Okay so here's the side by side comparison of the LX5 and S95 as promised.
Size wise, of course the LX5 is bigger, heavier.

The Canon S95 has a bigger and brighter LCD screen. The photos do look more vivid in the S95's screen. However, I find that the pictures taken by the S95 don't look as good as seen on its screen. In fact, quite a big difference. Deceiving eh? Or maybe my laptop screen needs to be calibrated lol.

Below are the shots taken by both cameras (images are not edited except for the added wordings).

Auto white balance a bit off for the S95..

Closest both camera can get in focus. (macro shot)

LX5 having a wider angle lens than S95.

Personally prefer the LX5's colour tone, S95's pictures seem whiter.

Night shot, manual mode. (exposure for 6s, f/8.0, ISO 80)

After using the S95 for few days, I noticed that its actually slower than the LX5, in terms of focus speed and startup speed. Also, the S95's battery life is much weaker, almost half of the LX5's. Overall, I still prefer the Lumix LX5, but I do like the pocketability of the S95. Both will make a great camera, it just depends on the user's needs. Oh because my comparison aren't that complete, so I've included the links below. :)

Slip Away

Why doesn't my holiday feel like a holiday?

As each day passes by, I feel like my life is slipping away from me. Feeling lost.. What am I supposed to do?

Is this what happens when you part with your 3 years worth of life somewhere else? Here I am in the comforts of home, and yet I feel like I don't belong.

What am I gonna do after this? How am I gonna survive..?

Missing

How's your life, without me?

I used to believe that nothing will come in between of us, but distance do get the best of us. Can't help but wonder why something so strong and yet can be so fragile. Frightening, frustrating.

Blank

Oblivion

Certain things in life are just not meant to be, and it'll be proved in time. Sometimes we know it, but we just don't want to believe in it. Hence, the anguish, the disappointment and the sadness we felt afterwards are much more than if we were to let go.

Who we are, to fight against fate?

Sunset on Father's Day

Sunset, beautiful but doesn't last long.

Finally I get to take some good pictures, giving me a sense of  accomplishment. :) I am starting to wonder how I'm going to survive staying home 24/7. It feels like I'm being trapped and it makes me feel so lifeless here, wandering aimlessly, watching series everyday, read novels etc. It may seem like I'm enjoying my holiday, but I find the days empty and I'm just looking for things to do to fill up that hole. Just finished my exam about two weeks ago and moved out from hostel last Friday. Going to graduate real soon, I hope. I can't go back to my life there either way...

Actually am feeling kinda sad for leaving, 3 years aren't short, but they flew by real fast. I'm gonna miss my carefree life there, friends, hostel mates, someone important to me. Memories are what I cling to now. Yeah, keep telling myself that I'll go back sometimes, quite frequently in fact, due to me furthering my studies. Hmmm. But still, its not the same anymore.

Anyways, its Father's Day today, its been bugging me actually.. Well, in my family, we don't celebrate these days, birthdays or whatsoever. Chinese do have the culture of not physically expressing their love, especially when it comes to their family. I don't know why, and its even more apparent in mine. How many Chinese have you met that always explicitly express their love to their parents?

Today it feels like any other day, I don't think I can ever bring myself to say anything to my dad, not even a 'Happy Father's Day'. I'm always not good in expressing my feelings. There's some kind of barrier there and I just don't know how to get over it.

However, today is not any other day to me, its Father's Day, and of course my wish, implicitly expressed - Happy Father's Day, Dad. Thank you for bringing me up, caring for me, always giving me the best. You are and always will be the best. I hope you know that. :')

Canon S95: First Impressions

Presenting the oh-so-famous Canon Powershot S95!

And guess what, Siao Li gotten one for herself. Hoho!
RM 1400 in total, together with a 8GB memory card and a camera casing.

Yes, she bought that camera just yesterday. After much surveying and researching, which all the bulk was done by me, she finally decided on this one. Its really a good camera, it feels nice to hold it, good controls, lots of effects, good design and the list just goes on.

Took a few test shots using the S95, overall the performance is quite satisfying. Though owning the Lumix LX5, I must say its auto focus speed is still inferior to the LX5's and sometimes I don't get the type of shot that I want it to take. But its really a great camera, having such a small body yet offers good functionality. Also, it has many interesting and fun effects which one can play with. I've included some sample shots below. :)

Miniature effect. I particularly like this one. :)

Colour accent. Highlighting a particular colour while leaving others just black and white. This is interesting.

Colour switch! Black Coke can hahah!

Fish-eye effect.... which serves as an all time entertainment for Siao Li.

Well it turns people's faces into ugly looking puffy baos. :/

Macro wasn't as good as the LX5's though, couldn't take objects which are real up close.

Auto mode. Tends to be a tad whitish for me, maybe others would prefer this.

Sometimes making people look paler..

Outdoor performance was good.

Better manual control than the LX5's, which is because of the control ring in front of the camera, as well as at the back. Its more convenient as compared to the LX5's rear dial which are quite hard to turn sometimes.

Overall, I find the camera easy to use, a fun camera I must say and very pocketable. But I noticed that the pictures that show up on the LCD of the camera tend to look brighter and more vivid than in my laptop's. Maybe the LCD was set too bright or something. Oh well..

Coming up: Side by side comparison with the Lumix LX5. Stay tuned. :)
